The Taxman Cometh

Based on a true story, Pandora gets into trouble when she leaves her tax accounts to the last minute. Her accountant Kaelah takes her over the knee for a sound hairbrush spanking.

I wrote this film while working on my tax return a couple of years ago. It was only the second one I’d done, but I had an accountant so all I needed to do was collect the data in terms of my income and expenditure and send it to them to process. The previous year I’d left it too late, but managed to file in time regardless. Emboldened by my success, this year I left it even later.

Most of the conversation in this scene is based on fact (yes, I did lose my paper bank statements and leave it too late to order replacements, and have to reconstruct my figures for that month from other records!) At the time I found myself wishing my accountant were the sort of disciplinarian who could take me in hand and encourage me to be more organised and save myself needless stress.
