There is very little more vulnerable than a medical examination.
Everyone knows this in theory, of course, but for Jamie that sense of vulnerability is a little more immediate. He’s grateful to have a private room for his hospital stay, but is it just him or is Nurse Matilda’s behaviour a little, well, unnecessary? The humiliation is bad enough all by itself (it can’t be that small…can it?), but when her cruel amusement extends to framing him for indecent exposure he’s sure she’s gone quite beyond the pale.
Is it really any smaller than the average he’d always assumed he measured up to? How did he wind up naked over Matron’s knee? And what exactly is this “inside-out hygiene protocol” he’s being threatened with?
