As spanking aficionados ourselves, we like to feature a wide range of implements in our films. Bare hand spanking and canes are probably our most-used tools, of course, but we’ve got a bit of everything: paddles, belts, riding crops, floggers, hairbrushes, tawses, rulers and the occasional wooden spoon.
There’s something a bit special about leather, isn’t there? It has a certain smell, a certain texture. New leather is polished and stingy, but with age and use a leather implement becomes softer and more supple and packs more of a thud. The pointed ends of a tawse give a sharp, sudden kind of pain; the click of a belt-buckle before a beating adds a frisson to any encounter.
A razor strop is a flexible leather strap designed for the polishing of blades. They’re a little archaic now in the age of disposable razors, but once upon a time you’d find them hanging on every bedroom wall - in easy, convenient reach. Many of them have a metal loop on the end to make them easier to mount; ours doesn’t, for safety reasons (the bite that would add when spanking would be actively unethical), but it still has the classic polished wooden handle.
There’s a very particular feel to the razor strop. Leather paddles are heavy and rigid; tawses have split tails; belts tend to be much narrower. A strop is broad, flexible and supple, often soft with age and use but no less punishing for it when applied to the backside.
Rebecca Belacqua hadn’t experienced one of these until this week’s shoot - and she seems to take to it pretty quickly. She kicks and squirms beautifully, both performer and character wriggling and wincing under Kelley May’s hand. There’s a lovely moment in the backstage extras where Kelley mentions how much she’d been enjoying her co-star’s reactions; “I kept having to remember that I’m her mother in this scene, I can’t look at her like that!”
I, too, have always loved being beaten with leather - so I particularly took to this scene, and should you share my predilections I’m sure you’ll agree.
This week’s offering has it all: schoolgirls, caning, feet, queer innuendo, blackmail, practically everything the discerning fetishist wants in a film.
One of my favourite things about this little duo of scenes focused on beatings off the beaten track is actually the friendship between the two girls played by Fairie Willow and Pandora Blake. They don’t seem to be romantically involved, but they’re absolutely partners in crime. They get each other into trouble and support each other through its consequences. When a punishment is happening they hold hands and when it’s over they compare marks. I’m a sucker for representations of femme friendship, and this is a lovely example of the genre!
The real focus of this pair of films though is the unusual locations to which Headmistress Hewitt chooses to apply her cane: thighs, hands, feet, over the top of still-angry welts. There were some firsts in here for Willow, who earlier in the day had shot her first ever cold caning scene, and she squrims and winces beautifully as Clara removes her white school kneesocks and canes the soles of her feet.

I think this is probably the most intense spanking I’ve seen here since I’ve been part of the Dreams of Spanking team. Pandora takes Emma through three different increasingly difficult implements before finally finishing off with a heavy cane, all delivered straight onto the bare. Emma takes her punishments almost in silence, only the softest of whimpers betraying how difficult it must be. At the end her skin is bright red and heavily welted, and I’ve no doubt that some of those final strokes will bruise for days or even weeks.
It turns out, though, that Emma Christie - for whom this is a Dreams of Spanking debut, making her endurance all the more impressive! - might be a woman of hidden talent (as well as the talent that’s already on show). There’s a little twist at the end of this scene; one that suggests a sequel is potentially in the works. We recently posted a Performer Spotlight featuring Pharaoh and Sha Luciana - the First Couple of the spanking world. There’s a beautiful, tender moment toward the end, where she’s looking up at him once the punishment is done, and the depth of their relationship is in their eyes.

This home-grown film was born from some spontaneous improv during what was meant to be a stills photo shoot. Amelia and Pandora have roleplayed together often enough that they can't resist the temptation to slip into character – and off we go.
You can tell how much fun they're having throughout as the storyline emerges organically from the banter. As the eponymous naughty nanny, Amelia Jane Rutherford lets slip that she neglected Pandora Blake’s precious children to flirt with the zookeeper. And Pandora Blake drops little details that suggest a snooty and selfish Mistress more interested in her own leisure than in caring for her little darlings.
Listening to the dialogue, we begin to build a picture of a kinky universe where the lady of the house has a fleet of servants, who all get their bottoms smacked if they are in trouble, and innocent young nannies can find themselves in disgrace for making eyes at men. And just wait till Daddy gets home, if you won’t submit to your punishment now…
Unlike some Dreams of Spanking films, this video is wall-to-wall spanking. We begin straight in on the action, and there's plenty to enjoy – especially if you like to see a spanked young lady squealing with outrage and distress. As Pandora Blake's nanny, Amelia Jane puts on a fabulous show of kicking, yelping, thrashing about and attempting to escape, all of which are dealt with firmly. I wasn’t surprised Ms Blake switched to using implements towards the end, as by that point her hand must have been nearly as sore as her victim’s glowing buttocks. (Yes, I am speaking from experience. I've had to go and run my hand under a cold tap for a few minutes after dishing out a particularly full-on hand-spanking!)
There’s some sharp slaps with a wooden ruler and, to finish up, several heavier strokes from a doubled-over leather belt. I have considerable admiration for the skilful way in which Pandora wields this. It does make such a lovely noise on impact.
This is a fun spanking film starring two consummate professionals indulging in roleplay for the joy of it. It's an appealing slice of bare-bottomed spanking fun, with plenty to enjoy - whether you imagine being the giver or the recipient.
There’s always something endearing about behind-the-scenes material. I’m rather fond of that photograph of Robert Powell taken during the filming of Jesus of Nazareth: the actor, strapped to his cross, is wrapped in a blanket and being given a drink and a cigarette by a crew member between takes, which deliciously demystifies the whole thing. There are some similar enjoyably fourth-wall-breaking moments in this excellent look at the making of Mrs Smith’s Method: Pandora strolling into shot in modern t-shirt and knickers to give a bit of directorial advice; the discussions over how to achieve the impression of an utterly frenzied birching of Amelia Jane’s bare arse without going beyond what would be safe, sane and consensual for the actor.
Mrs Smith's Method, released a couple of years ago, is one of the more ambitious and elaborate Dreams of Spanking productions. It pushes many buttons: sly pokes at Victorian moralizing, hypocrisy and weirdness, especially via Molly Malone’s fabulous portrayal of a thrashing-obsessed, for-your-own-good religious loon; the ritualistic elements involved in hardcore discipline, such as kissing the implement and thanking your chastiser, and the closing blissed-out, yielding contrition. However, seeing the cast interact between takes as themselves is endearing and a good reminder that, no matter how dark the scene you want to play out might be, it can still be enjoyable fun entered into with full knowledge and great enthusiasm.
I’ve recently been dabbling in spanking shoots again myself and, along with the indisputable fun it is to yell at a cute girl and spank her pert bum till it’s glowing and hot, the laughs and hugs and the reassurance afterwards that she enjoyed it, that it was fun working together, and that we’re all good, are as important a part of the experience as the actual scene.
Severe punishment, the sort that comes with a few darker overtones of wretched humiliation and the crushing of a free spirit, may not be to everyone’s taste, though it’s definitely hotter than hot for a lot of people. I’d have to admit that my own preferences run more to the knockabout comedy end of the spanking scene, so I probably like this making-of version slightly more than the original. It’s also a good way of showing just how much work goes into the making of a porn film that’s a little bit more ambitious than most, and would be just as helpful as a masterclass in making your own historical romp, should you be so inclined. Mrs Smith Behind The Scenes is certainly a terrific companion piece to Mrs Smith’s Method: watch them back to back, if you have a free afternoon. As to whether you prefer to tantalise yourself with the making-of and then watch the film proper, or enjoy the feature first and then go back and see how it was all done, that’s entirely up to you.
