It’s all change at the moment: our lives are changing, this website is changing, everything’s on the move. I thought this might be a good time to have a quick glance back at last year - those halcyon days when we could still do weird exotic things like “go to the pub” and “have coffee with a mate” and “film in-person multi-performer spanking shoots” - for a nostalgic look at some of my personal highlights of 2019. This is entirely for that reason and not at all because I didn’t get round to it in January, of course.

#1: Even Teachers Make Mistakes

I may have been in this game a while now, but some of the real classics never grow old - and teacher/pupil is one of them. This take on the traditional school theme is an especial favourite of mine because it comes with a bit of a twist! I'm a bit proud of this still from the film. Mike’s aim is fantastic, and I love how clear and precise those six sharp stripes are.

#2: Behind The Scenes At ‘Mrs Smith’s Method’

We shot Mrs. Smith’s Method back in 2017, and it’s the most ambitious film we’ve ever made - I’m still extremely proud of it. Releasing this behind-the-scenes shoot last year made me proud too, though; of how much fun we all have on set, of the way we keep our ethics front and centre in the work we do and of the efforts we make to prioritise mutual care before, during and after. The combination of cheeky grins and a bare bum in this candid through-the-window snap is a little snapshot of that and it always makes me smile.

#3: In Big Trouble

We’re doing more filmed work than ever these days, but I still love putting together a gallery shoot. This one tells a story in a surprisingly moving way; there’s a lot of detail in every shot. My favourite is one that really has it all - you can see on our faces just what’s going through our minds, and this is a delightfully expressive photo.

#4: He Wouldn’t Spank Me

In this scene I played a disappointed sub whose promised weekend of naughtiness had ended in frustration - at least until I took matters into my own hands! Looking back on this was a lovely reminder of how much fun solo work can be, and also of how much I liked that characterisation; there was a coy, playful mischievousness to it that I think this photo sums up perfectly.

#5: Pandora’s Birthday Caning

For all I love playing characters, there’s something to be said for a scene that’s real - and this one was exactly that. Sarah and I had a great time making this, and getting to put out some content featuring me as myself is always a highlight for me. There’s a candid feeling to this photo; you can see that we’re both having such a great time we’ve half-forgotten the cameras are even there, and it’s a reminder that spanking is ultimately about fun and pleasure - as well as the roles we often take on around that.

#6: Carpe Posterium

We took a trip back in time for this Etonian-style scene. Much of my work features me at the femme-ier end of my range, so it was fantastic to embody something rather more masc in this shoot - plus, you know, silly Latin jokes. One of the great things about a tawse is the way your whole posterior lights up from it, and this photo is a lovely example of that!

Thank you to everyone who came through 2019 with us, and thank you again to all of you here for 2020 - and what a wild ride it’s turning out to be. We're not going anywhere - I mentioned in my previous post that I have plenty of shoots in the can for now, and we all love a bit of DIY solo action too - so we can keep the content coming right through the lockdown.

In Big Trouble: porn and art

It’s an interesting thing to look at porn that is “not my thing” and try to see it objectively. Not surprisingly, this isn’t an easy thing to do. It makes sense that we process stimuli we find pleasing more readily and more directly than stimuli that doesn’t quite float our boat. However, the photo gallery In Big Trouble is beautifully made and has enough artistic merit to stand alone, regardless of one’s personal tastes.

Porn is a faction of the overall canon of contemporary art, in my opinion, and I say that as someone whose education is in fine art and critical theory. Many people would disagree, but when the crafting and production of pornography is as considered as its themes and narrative, like the films and photos here on Dreams of Spanking, I’d be hard pressed to dismiss it as too low-brow to be art. In Big Trouble is a beautiful example of visual storytelling that is highly narrative, emotionally demonstrative and visually satisfying to the viewer.

I’m not privy to the details of the creative process or art direction behind a scene like In Big Trouble, but it’s clearly well considered with captivating details. The inspiration for this custom hard spanking photo story came from a client with a particular vision, based on tales of his ex lover’s accounts of hard caning and OTK spanking conducted at home in her younger years. He said,

“Her stories to me of being punished were always the most engaging when she was describing the more ritualistic preparations of being led to the living room, being made to assume the position, being told to lift her dress, being instructed to lower her panties, and then later being ordered to lay down over his knees."

So much of what is described and desired in this scene is internally felt; both by the client as he relives his response to his lover’s stories, as well as the actual scene as it unfolds, grippingly portrayed by Pandora Blake and Mike Pain. Nuanced focus, attention to detail, and the rich storytelling of photography allows the viewer to be transported to the dining room, where paternal hand and rattan cane befall Pandora's tender bottom over and over. I found myself holding my breath as I moved through the images, struck a bit dumb by the intensity and anxious discomfort I felt as the story unfurled. I could feel the heat of the welts, the humiliation of her bottom being bared, and the potion of fear and obedience she must have felt to be able to resist flinching, kicking or squirming.

The artistry of these photos is, for me, in the discomfort that they elicited in me. Not all art is pretty or comfortable. These images are striking (ooops, what a pun!) even though they are not what I turn to for visual titillation. How then, did they resonate so deeply for me? I understand the client’s desire to have that tension highlighted: to experience, indirectly, his lover's humiliation and fear, as well as the unquestioned power and authority of her disciplinarian. These are potent archetypes and themes, because of the power dynamics of the domestic relationship and the ritualised experience of punishment.

This photo gallery made me pause, examine and interrogate my responses. It made me reflect on the nature of the relationships and fetishes depicted and the powerful emotions they provoke. In short, it got me thinking, and it made me feel something. Although that is not the same as being turned on, I was certainly stimulated. And that, folks, is what both porn and art are meant to do.

A knowing twinkle in Headmaster and schoolgirl's eye...

I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for strict teacher/naughty pupil spanking scenes, and Even Teachers Make Mistakes pushes all the right buttons. There’s the décor – crossed canes on the wall, Union Jacks to show the upholding of Proper British Values, and all the rest of it. There’s Pandora’s choice of bad-girl attire – super short denim shorts, and a tight Ace of Spades t-shirt. There’s the ritual ‘Oh but Sir!’, and the ‘Don’t answer back, get those knickers down!’ And then there’s the caning itself, expertly delivered and beautifully paced.

I like it when scenes like this are done with a knowing twinkle in the eye of each performer. In this film, I love watching Pandora’s face as the caning progresses; her little yelps and gasps for breath, and the way she chews her lip once the pain kicks in. I know some people find school caning fare a bit camp, but my tastes have always run to kink that is fun for all concerned - and despite Mike's strictness at the start, this film delivers. I particularly like the ending, which I won’t spoil for you except to say that it’s probably not quite what you might expect.

Over the years, I’ve done a fair bit of school-themed play and, of all the spanking things I’ve ever done, for me school scenes always seem to tend to end up with everyone involved nearly helpless with laughter, even while there are also tears of pain from whoever I’m whacking. I love to elicit tears in a reaction to a particularly hard stroke – but laughter and tears are more closely linked than some people think. No one actually gets to the point of giggling in Even Teachers Make Mistakes, but I couldn't help observing the occasional hint of enjoyment or trace of a smile which didn't quite seem entirely in character. For me, these moments of joy bubbling up through the strict disciplinary facade of the scene make the whole thing more enjoyable. I also spotted what I reckon was a hint of imminent tears from Pandora - which I liked even more.

Both Mike and Pandora clearly know one another well and are comfortable working together; apparently Danielle K, who was behind the camera, is a friend of Pandora's who is new to Dreams of Spanking. On the strength of this scene, I would say she fits right in – it’s a beautifully shot short film. I’m tempted to go get my cane, now, and see if there’s a willing bottom available, so I can practice some more until my tramlines are as precise as Mike Pain’s.

Let the roulette wheel decide

I was scrolling back through the archive and realised that no-one had written a blogpost yet about Casino Correction. This seems like a missed opportunity, as this is a fantastic spanking film starring Pandora Blake and Mike Pain, with an original concept that I haven't seen before.

Croupier Pandora Blake has been called in for a meeting with her boss, casino owner Mike Pain. It seems she's been distracted on the job, messing up the sums and costing the casino money. The scene begins with the lovely Ms Blake pleading with Mr Pain to keep her job. When that doesn’t work she tries bargaining - it turns out she has an ace in her hand, and her friend in the IT department has told her that Mike likes to look at spanking sites on his office computer. 

At this point it almost seems like she is in control, embarrassing Mike by revealing she knows his proclivity for watching spanking porn. She gets him to agree that she can keep her job in exchange for him giving her a spanking as punishment for all the things she messed up. That’s when everything switches, the power dynamic changes - and when Mike spins the roulette wheel Pandora realises it’s not going to be as easy as she thought.

There is something in the way Pandora is willing to say anything to keep her job, and the way Mike pauses before deciding he can definitely take advantage of her desperation. It's a delicious sense that he has been hoping someone, at some point, will ask him to punish them. A feeling that is reinforced by the fact that he keeps a paddle and belt in his office drawer.

I loved seeing Ms Blake laid over Mike’s lap, and squirming each time his palm hits her bottom. Her almost petulant “that really hurts!” was just perfect. Mr Pain is now in full control, and making sure she’ll remember her punishment clearly. When he brings out the leather paddle there is a moment when the camera focusses on Pandora’s wide-eyed look of shock which I particularly liked.

Things get even more fun when Mike lifts her skirt, and we are treated to the sight of the reddening cheeks of her bottom. The marks are lovely, and you can clearly see the edges were the paddle has hit. When he moves on to using a belt, I really enjoyed how clearly you could see each stripe where the belt landed.

As the behind the scenes video makes clear, Pandora is no stranger to the belt and really enjoys receiving it. I loved finding out exactly what it is that Mike does to make Pandora go "Yummy yummy yummy"! It was also fun to watch Nimue and Mike figure out how to best film the roulette wheel and watch a bit of footage that didn't make the cut in the final scene.

Spanking films where at least one of the characters are meant to be genuinely into spanking can sometimes end up feeling a bit camp or awkward - it's a bit of an odd dynamic, more complicated to bring to life than a more traditional straight-laced dynamic where it's purely about punishment. I know from watching Mike's intereview that he has a fetish for scenes where elaborate punishments are decided by characters who have a secret interest in spanking. Growing up kinky in South Africa, where corporal punishment was still used, his experiences shaped his interest in punishment as an outlet for private sexuality - but in situations where no-one would ever dare to admit it. There's a tension there, and I can really see the appeal.

The best bit of this scene though is the way Mike turns the tables on Pandora with the roulette wheel. The idea of a punishment where fate will decide how many strokes is seriously hot. There's no chance to bargain or wheedle out of it now - the wheel doesn't care how much it's going to hurt.

The therapeutic benefits of spanking

A few years ago a news story broke online which caused a stir amongst spanking enthusiasts. Doctors in Siberia had been promoting a new "whipping therapy" to treat patients suffering from addiction and depression. A 2005 article describes how "Russian scientists from the city of Novosibirsk, Siberia, made a sensational report at the international conference devoted to new methods of treatment and rehabilitation in narcology. The report was called “Methods of painful impact to treat addictive behavior.”" The idea is that addiction and depression often are caused by decreasing production of endorphins - and the pain caused by corporal punishment can stimulate endorphin receptors and rekindle the "production of happiness". The scientists recommended that consenting adults judged psychologically fit for the treatment receive a course of thirty sessions, each consisting of 60 cane strokes on the buttocks, accompanied by counselling and therapy.

Although the therapeutic effects of corporal punishment practised by enthusiasts can hardly claim clinical success, all of us who enjoy spanking know how beneficial it can be. Personally, I find that spanking - particularly caning - grounds me in my body, making me feel calm and centred. Being physically punished focusses me on my breath, in the moment, and quietens my busy mind. When you're being caned, you aren't thinking about anything else.

I find it reduces anxiety and irritability, increases my sense of my own resilience and makes me believe I have the power to tackle the things I'm struggling with, and increases my zest for life. Plus if it's done by the right person in the right way it can be very sexually exciting too.

I'm not a doctor, and it would be presumptuous for any of us to claim that our spanking practice is seriously rooted in medical science. But the idea of spanking as a form of treatment approved by the medical establishment is an appealing fantasy. Plus, it's an excuse for me to pull out my nurse uniform...

In The Russian Treatment, patient Mike Pain has admitted himself to a specialist clinic after suffering from depression and malaise. The clinic is trialling an experimental therapy which uses the application of corporal punishment, beginning with hand spanking in the first session, then - in part 2 -  escalating to the strap and, finally, the cane.

The treatment has many benefits. Spanking boosts the circulation and triggers the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers. Patients report that it reduces anxiety, relaxes them, and improves sleep and mood. Nurse Pandora is careful to explain everything before asking Mike to sign the consent form - but it turns out that Mike doesn't take much persuading.

Lying over the nurse's knee on the bed, Mike surrenders to a firm hand spanking and deep bottom massage. He seems to take to the therapy very quickly... so quickly in fact that one can't help wondering whether this is the first time he's experienced something like this.

One week later, it's the final session of Mike's course of treatment. In the intervening time he's received daily spankings, including applications with the strap and cane; six strokes from Nurse Molly. Now, Nurse Pandora gives him another dose of the leather strap, administering ever harder strokes as Mike kneels on the wooden stool at the foot of the bed, his whole body rocked by the sharp blows.

Finally, it's time for the last caning of the treatment. On the nurse's recommendation, he receives twelve very hard strokes - a level of punishment that not every patient can endure. On all fours on the bed, Mike's upturned bottom is exposed - and his groans show that the pain is real. Still, as he breathes into each strokes, it's clear that the treatment is having the intended effect.

I really enjoyed making this two part nurse spanking film with Mike Pain and videographer Nimue Allen. It's a fun, satirical take on the Siberian medical caning story, and I think you can tell from the camp dialogue how much the set-up amused us. But there's also an authentic side to this scenario, from the genuinely hard cane strokes Mike bravely takes, to the exploration of the therapeutic benefits of spanking. If spanking for health and wellbeing interests you, you could do worse than to start with the breathing techniques advocated by Nurse Pandora in these films. Just let the pain flow through you... and remember to exhale.

A whistlestop tour of some favourite corporal punishment implements

Maintaining Discipline – our new flirty two-part switch storyline starring Pandora Blake and Mike Pain – is like a Who's Who (or What's What) of corporal punishment instruments. The pair work their way through the slipper to tawse and cane, with a bit of warm-up hand spanking thrown in when they switch roles. Because of this, I thought it'd be a good excuse to take a closer look at some of our favourite implements.

Most blog posts I write for Dreams of Spanking are written from my point of view as an enthusiastic, horny sex blogger, eager to tell you all the ways in which individual scenes float my kinky boat. This time, though, I'm going to pretend to be Amazon – providing recommendations for further viewing depending on which implement you prefer. The slipper

In part one of Maintaining Discipline, new teacher Ms Blake is given instruction in corporal punishment by the friendly headmaster. He wants to make sure she can keep her pupils under control, and what better way than with the stinging whack of the slipper on a bare bottom? The headmaster makes an unexpected offer - and bends over so Pandora can learn to dish it out.

In Maintaining Discipline part 2, though, it's her turn to understand how it feels - a clearly aroused Ms Blake offers up her bottom, and the headmaster shows her just how much corporal punishment can hurt.

The ruler

Wooden rulers are a special kind of implement. While many spanking tools are made specifically for the job, the wooden ruler is something that might be found lying around any classroom or study, and happen to be conveniently to hand when the time comes to dish out punishment. In Maintaining Discipline part 1, Pandora tries out both slow, hard strokes and a quick flurry of six cracks in a row.

In Maintaining Discipline part 2, a calm Mike Pain explains to Pandora that the tawse hurts more because of the split in the centre of the leather, before advising her to use it "as hard as she can". It certainly has an impact – ear-splitting cracks followed by tell-tale red stripes that instantly appear on Mike's bottom.

One of my favourite ever Dreams of Spanking films, because it contains two guys who just happen to be the kind of people I'd blush at if I met them in a bar - plus some twisted abuses of power and an intensely hot tawsing at the end.

The cane

In case it wasn't obvious, the cane is one of the most popular things on Dreams of Spanking – I'm sure you can guess why. In Maintaining Discipline part 2, part of Pandora Blake's tutorial involves learning how to use the cane. With headmaster Mike Pain bent over the desk, providing calm instructions, she starts first with a thin cane and then onto much harder strokes with a thick one. Which is more painful? I'll let you decide...

A corporal punishment film with a seriously sexy twist

Confession: I like the words 'corporal punishment' possibly even more than I like the word 'spanking.' There's more tied up in the phrase than just the simple act of smacking someone on the bottom.

I'm not saying we should rename this site to 'dreams of corporal punishment'. The beauty of 'spanking' is that it encompasses so much – from the erotic spanking between two people who are achingly horny for each other to the cold, harsh punishment of master to servant, and even the experimental sadism of the mad scientist studying pain.

Corporal punishment, though, summons a specific kind of institutional discipline, with rituals, traditions and rules. This week's unusual corporal punishment film has exactly that – but with a twist that I think makes it way more compelling.

Obviously for 'compelling' read: hot as all hell.

Mike Pain plays a strict headmaster, with very precise and firm ideas about discipline. Pandora tells me that the idea for this scene was inspired by Mike's upbringing in very strict South African schools, where corporal punishment was part of day to day life. (If this is of interest, check out Mike's interview at the bottom of the scene page for more real-life details of corporal punishment in the 1960s.)

In this scene, it's not a naughty student getting spanked, but a fellow member of staff. Pandora Blake plays the naïve new teacher, keen to impose discipline but totally unfamiliar with the school's methods. So Mr Pain offers to give her a distinctive training session - using himself as the subject.

As Pandora eagerly asks for a demonstration of how to administer corporal punishment, Mike obligingly bends over the desk. First with his trousers on, he lets Ms Blake test her right arm by smacking him on the bottom with a slipper. As she spanks him, he gives her suitable encouragement, and tips about the best place to land a swat. But in the classroom, Ms Blake would use the slipper on the bare bottom - and so as they gradually grow more comfortable with each other, the headmaster pulls down his trousers and pants so Ms Blake can get the full experience.

So what's the twist? Well, in most corporal punishment scenes, the focus is on correcting poor behaviour. You'd expect a teacher administering discipline to be firm and professional – swinging carefully calculated strokes to proportionately match the seriousness of the misdemeanour. In this scene, though, not only is the beating not a punishment, there's an extra spark flying between Ms Blake and Mr Pain. It's a spark that I suspect many Dreams of Spanking fans will recognise, and it's that moment when you realise not only do you find this spanking thing incredibly hot, but the person you're talking to does as well.

It's a gorgeous twist on a traditional punishment scenario, mainly because I think so many people will empathise with it. It certainly takes me back to those moments when unwitting partners have playfully smacked me on the bottom only to see the lightbulb go on over my head - and recognise that this might just be the start of something we have in common.

Mike's reassuring instructions and encouragement as Pandora beats him with the slipper and the vicious wooden ruler really does it for me. The characters have different levels of spanking experience – headmaster Mr Pain is an old hand while Ms Blake is a spanking newbie – but in terms of enjoyment, you can tell they're equally into it. From the glint in Ms Blake's eyes as she exclaims over the bright red marks left by the slipper, to Mr Pain's glowing encouragement that she try a few more strokes - and his insistence that she simply must beat him as hard as she can. 'Maintaining Discipline' is a film with all the rituals of corporal punishment, and all the joy of a spanking for pleasure.

"You can certainly take a beating."

Some people know how to make an entrance. They arrive at a party and do something so memorable that you know you won't forget their name any time soon. Mike Pain's debut on Dreams of Spanking – in which he takes a beating so hard and so thorough it makes my eyes water - is exactly that kind of entrance.

This is one of the more traditional female domination scenes I've seen on Dreams of Spanking, and the story - suggested by Mike himself - is the kind of fantasy I expect many kinksters can relate to. Married man Mike Pain is secretly into BDSM, and femdom in particular. When his friend Pandora Blake teases him about his fashion sense, she discovers that beneath his buttoned-up shirt he's wearing a leather collar... and a bondage harness, and a studded leather thong.
