Rehearsals for “The Taming of the Shrew” are not going well. The actresses keep bickering and forgetting their lines. Luckily, the director has ways of dealing with such distractions.
The Taming of the Shrew has had a reputation for being Shakespeare’s kinkiest play since the spanking scene was added to Kiss Me Kate. I’ve always thought that Kate and Bianca’s fight scene at the start of Act 2 had kinky potential. The “bondmaid” line begs for some rope to be added, and the stage direction doesn’t say where Kate strikes her sister…
The last time I did this scene I was playing Kate, and was entirely upstaged by my co-actress, who played Bianca’s provocative smugness to the hilt. I loved her reading of Bianca as knowing rather than innocent, and fancied giving it a go.
I hope you enjoy this light-hearted foray into Shakespearean spankings. We had a lot of fun with it! I’d love to do more on this theme: if nothing else, I want to see Thomas’ Petruchio take down Caroline’s Kate!

Bravo/Brava! Well done! All looked very good the costumes the room. Can believe being spanked in petticoats and reciting Shakespeare is very difficult but you, Thomas, and Caroline did it. One photo of Caroline’s and Pandora’s bottoms side by side would have been lovey, a memorable vision in the film.
I loved everything about this one!
But I think the bestest part of all was how Thomas’s spankings sounded like gunshots at about 9min in! Oooooh! I remember what THOSE feel like!

Glad you liked it. The thing that amused me most was how often the elderly beam floor made the camera move because I put a chair down. Hazards of shooting in old buildings!
Ooooh indeed! Soft leather gloves can lessen the impact of spanking, but those unpolished suede ones really pack a punch with Tom’s strong hands inside them. I was surprised by how much it hurt!

Caroline and I both hastily crammed the lines for this scene the morning of the shoot, so our imperfect memories are completely genuine – we didn’t have to pretend to flub the lines! I did find it hilarious however that I went from “sort of more or less knowing it” to “actually I don’t have the first clue” as soon as Caroline went over Tom’s knee. Nothing like watching a spanking to drive all other thoughts from the mind, it seems…
Sorry about the minimal photos on this one, we took them before we started filming video to block out the scene, but then didn’t have time to take more afterwards. The spanking side by side bent over the chair was spontaneous – in retrospect we should have gone back and revisited it, but hey ho.

I love the costumes the petticoats, what about stockings? Yhe one pic I saw looked you were wearing regular knee high socks?.
Stockings? Hardly Elizabethan! Okay, the stripy socks aren’t exactly 16th century either, but you see striped woollen knee high socks in quite a lot of Victorian erotica, up to 150 years before nylon stockings came in.
